Running vs Walking: Pros and Cons Of Each
Running vs walking. Is one better than the other? Check out the pros and cons of each!
WALKING:
1. Easy and Inexpensive
2. Effective low-impact workout that can be done by nearly everyone
3. Easier on joints than running
4. Lowers blood pressure, reduces cancer risks, contributes to fat loss and reduces stress
RUNNING:
1. Running burns energy faster than walking. So, you can exercise for a shorter amount of time and still burn the same amount of calories!(For example, you will burn around 100 calories per mile by walking or running, but you can run a mile MUCH faster than you can walk it!)
2. Runners do run a higher risk of injuries like blisters and sprains due to the higher impact over walking.
3. Running burns more carbohydrates and sugar while walking allows your metabolism to switch and burn more fat.
BOTTOM LINE:
Whether you decide to go for a 30 minute walk or a 30 minute run, know that either one is doing great things for your body!
Choose the one that fits you best and get out there!! (Just remember to ask your doctor before starting any exercise program!)
