Organic Apples vs Regular Apples. Is Organic Worth The Extra Cost?

Organic Apples. Should you and your family be eating them? Are they healthier for you than regular? Are they really worth the extra money?

Organic Apples:

1. According to the Environmental Working Group, apples are one of "THE DIRTY DOZEN" meaning these should always be purchased organically because of the high levels of pesticides used on the conventional type.

2. Organic practices are safer on the environment.

3. Some studies suggest that organically grown foods contain higher amounts of cancer-fighting chemicals than conventionally grown food.

Conventional Apples:

1. There is no clear evidence that the pesticides are harmful.

2. Genetically conventional apples have the same healthy nutrients and taste the same as well.

BOTTOM LINE:

Organic apples do contain less pesticides and are better for the environment. However, conventional apples are still healthier for your body than a candy bar or potato chips. So either way, eat up!!
