A Natural Cleaning Product For Every Area Of Your Home!

Want to find a natural cleaning product for every room in your house?

Tired of spending money on harsh chemicals that are bad for you and the environment?

Here are some great tips from fellow mommys on how to make your house "Green Clean" and save you money at the same time!

GREEN CLEAN

1. Use vinegar as a natural fabric softener. Pour it into your washing machine during the rinse cycle instead of fabric softener. It will remove the excess detergent left in your clothes and leave them soft. (Check clothing first to be sure the vinegar doesn't remove the color or hurt the fabric!)

2. For stains on clothing, pour white vinegar on the stain and let sit for a few minutes. Then, wash as normal. (Be sure to test a small area first to be sure it won't remove the color!)

3. Cut a lemon in half and rub the cut side into baking soda. This makes a great natural cleaning product for removing stuck-on food and grime.

4. Take 1 cup olive oil and 1/2 cup lemon juice and make your own natural furniture polish.

5. Pure lemon juice will dissolve soap scum on bath tubs and sinks.

6. 1 part water and 1 part vinegar in a spray bottle becomes an all-purpose cleaner you can use all over the house (except marble). No worries about it getting on eating areas either. It's safe for the whole family!

7. Straight vinegar in the toilet will remove tough stains and odors naturally.

8. Clogged drain? Take 1 box of baking soda and pour into the drain followed by 1 gallon of hot vinegar. Let sit for several hours and then rinse with hot water. (Check with your local hardware store before using this on plastic pipes. It may rupture them!)

9. Make your own glass cleaner by mixing 1/8 cup vinegar and 1 pint of water in a spray bottle.

KIDS CAN HELP TIP:

Get the kids involved by having them help make natural cleaning products for your home!

FOR CLEANING YOUR POTS AND PANS, SINKS, ETC:

1. Have the kids decorate a container with a twist-on cap. Help the kids punch holes in the top of the lid.

2. Stir in 5 or 6 drops of lavender, eucalyptus or orange essential oil into 3/4 cup of baking soda.

3. Pour the mxiture into the newly decorated container.

4. Start cleaning! Remember to dampen the surface before cleaning, rinse well and check a small area first to be sure the product won't damage your sinks!

FOR CLEANING YOU COUNTER TOPS, FLOORS AND TILE:

1. Have the kids decorate a recycled dish detergent bottle.

2. Dissolve 2 TBSP of baking soda in 2 cups of water and add 3-4 drops of essential oil.

3. Shake well and squirt onto a damp sponge.

Store Bought Brands

If you do decide to go with store purchased brands look for ones without phosphates, chlorine, or artificial fragrance or colors. There ARE some good ones out there if you take the time to find them. Look for companies with the Green Seal of Approval (Greenseal.com).

Some great companies to look for are Shaklee, Biokleen, Mrs. Meyer's, Seventh Generation, or Imus - Greening The Cleaning Products. Also, try to buy products in the smallest amount of packaging possible and recycle the containers. Every little bit helps!
