Flash Freezing Food - Step By Step Instructions

Flash freezing food is a great way to save money! Find a great buy on organic potatoes, green beans, strawberries or other fruits or vegetables and flash freeze them to use later. Or better yet, grow your own and freeze them for use in the winter!
(I wouldn't suggest using them raw again, but they are great over pancakes, in oatmeal, blending in smoothies, or used in soups and sauces.)
It's a simple process. Here is a step by step guide:
STEP 1 - Prepare The Produce
The first step is to purchase or grow your organic fruits and vegetables.
(Look for sales on organics and buy as much as possible! A great way to save money AND have a healthy diet.)
Once you get them home, wash your produce, cut into small pieces, and place on a cookie sheet covered in wax paper. (Be sure the items are not on top of each other. It should all be in a single layer)
STEP 2 - The Freezer
Place the cookie sheet in the freezer uncovered and not touching anything else in the freezer.
Leave pan in freezer until produce is completely frozen. (Usually between 2-4 hours)
STEP 3 - Package Frozen Food
Once food is completely frozen, remove cookie sheet from the freezer and IMMEDIATELY place food in air-tight containers or freezer bags. If you are using freezer bags, you may want to double-bag and remove as much air as possible to avoid freezer burn.
Produce should remain fresh in your freezer for up to 4 months!
