Easy Workouts For The Entire Family

Looking for easy workouts for the family? Don't have the money for expensive equipment or gym memberships?

Here are a few ideas that are FREE!

1. Grab the kids and go for a family walk or bike ride. (bring the family dog along as well!)

2. Challenge your kids to push-ups, sit-ups, tricep dips or even who can hop across the room the fastest! This can even be done during the commercials of your favorite show!

3. Park farther away at work, the mall or the grocery store and walk.

4. Use the stairs instead of the elevator.

5. Turn on the radio or your favorite CD and dance. (My daughter LOVES this one!)

6. Decide to jog in place, do lunges and/or do jumping jacks during your favorite show.

7. Grab two bottles of laundry detergent or milk jugs and use as weights. (Not ready for that much weight? Try canned veggies until you are ready to move up!)

8. Do a exercise DVD swap with friends or get a new exercise DVD at the library. This is a great way to try something new for free!

9. Use the restroom on a different floor than you are on at home or at work. The stairs are a great workout for your tushy!!!
(BTW- Have you ever wondered if walking was better than running or vice versa? Find out the answer here...)

** Here's another little tip: PLAN YOUR ROUTINES IN ADVANCE! Know whether you are a person who should workout in the morning, during your kids naps or lunch break or in the evening after dinner and plan what you will do for EACH WORKOUT. Just like with healthy eating, it requires thinking ahead to achieve your goals!
